The string test

We are developing minimally invasive devices to improve and simplify disease diagnosis and monitoring. Our latest development is CEST (Coiled oEsophageal String Test). CEST is a simple device used to sample fluid from the upper gastrointestinal tract. It has a wide range of applications, particularly in monitoring inflammatory diseases of the oesophagus, cancer and infections.

SUPPORTING RESEARCH

Improved patient care through research is the focus of our research initiatives. ChapelTec has donated free CEST devices to research groups in the UK and Europe to further knowledge and ultimately help patients with eosinophilic oesophagitis.

CEST

We have a particular focus in devices to help patients with gastrointestinal disorders.

Minimally invasive monitoring of disease activity, CEST

CEST or coiled oesophageal string test has been developed as a simple way of monitoring patents with oesophageal disease. The simple device is easy to swallow, safe and comfortable. It is a means of sampling oesophageal or stomach fluid. This fluid can then be analysed in a laboratory to measure specific biomarkers to monitor disease activity.

Its unique design allows for easy swallowing, even in patients with dysphagia. A particular advantage of CEST is that it can be swallowed by young children, even those who can not swallow tablets.

CEST kit has been donated to hospitals in Europe and England to help with research in a condition called eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE). Other potential applications include cancer,  reflux oesophagitis and tuberculosis diagnosis.
